Deep dig into scriptwriting

Insights exploration and tips into the screenplay and the writers craft

Summer workout.

Have you found transitioning back to normal, difficult? Classes, the office, commuting, shopping, all those whirly twirly social activities…? The pandemic was a blessing for writers. No distractions, no obligations, only the minimal, in some ways a strain, but localized. Now the world out there is ours to partake in again.

First thing on my list was go back to the movies! Yes, in a movie theater. I sat in a small theater with only three other people. Felt a little strange. Until the lights went out and a world I hadn’t seen before, unfolded before my eyes and drew me in.

There are some who have found it hard to write anything original this year and others who have relished the time in isolation and have produced work. If you are among the former, this month I offer you a way to get your screenwriter muscles back in shape.

The scene above is from the book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseinni. Write it in film form… and have fun!
